Thank you very much for your interest in the show choir program at Castle High School. In the words of Principal Andy Byers, students in our program make the school a “happier place” to learn and grow. Our students are leaders and role models in the school and through their effort in providing sophisticated, well-produced, and high-class musical entertainment to the community and state, are proudly recognized ambassadors for our beloved Castle Knights and the Warrick County School Corporation.

The seed for the current program was planted as an extracurricular co-ed “swing choir” formed out of the larger concert choir in the 1970s by longtime Castle choral director Kathy Ewing and was known for many years as the Castle Singers. In 1989, the group became a co-curricular show choir under the direction of Roger Thompson. In 1990, the name was changed to Knight Sensations and the group began competing. It experienced rapid growth and success in the mid-1990s under the direction of Michele Shetter. Current director Brian Adcock (an alumnus of the first Knight Sensations group) took the reins of the program in 1997. He teamed with renowned choreographer Brent “Woody” Holland to take the group up to the level of competition they presently enjoy.

Seeing the need to add the position of Assistant Choral Director (the only school in Warrick County with this role) in 1998, Ann Gregory joined the team. Due to continued student enrollment, a second show choir was formed out of a previous upper-level concert group, the all-female Knightingales. Upon Ms. Gregory’s retirement in 2009, Suzanne Wells Chambliss, herself a distinguished alumnae of the program, joined the directorial team and is working together with Mr. Adcock and current choreographer Rob DiComandrea (part of the team since 2005) to continue growing and improving the program as we know it today.

We look forward to a bright future and consider ourselves very fortunate to work with the caliber of young people with which we are blessed. There is true joy in music and the art of show choir is rapidly developing and expanding. Our vision is to offer our students the very best in music education, and in turn offer our audiences the very best in performance arts excellence.
